2010 Duck Hunting Packages

Once again the 2010 waterfowl season is fast approaching – and it’s time to think about your upcoming hunting trip to the Oaks Inn Hotel, Banquet & Convention Center. As always the Oaks Inn will strive to make this year’s trip the best ever! Opening Day this year has not yet been determined by the Ministry of Natural Resources - make sure you check back in August, 2010.

Please note the Non-Resident Firearm Declaration containing all necessary information has changed. It is now www.rcmp.gc.ca/cfp.

As of June 1, 2009, all visitors to Canada by air, land, or sea require a passport or equivalent travel document. For more information regarding this new legislation please visit the website www.cbsa.gc.ca.

As duck hunting season is a very busy time for us here at the Oaks Inn, you may prefer to fax, or e-mail your accommodation and licence requests to us. We do confirm all faxes and e-mail’s. In doing this we are hoping to provide you, the customer with the most friendly and efficient service possible. You may notice on our website that we now offer on line bookings – we do ask however that you still call or email your request as certain information must be acquired regarding your unique reservation requirements that cannot be done thru the online system. Returning guests of the Oaks Inn are now aware that as of 2009 we longer offer the 4:00 am breakfast at The Cookhouse Restaurant, however Tim Hortons Coffee shop is just next door - open 24 hours offering coffee and breakfast on the fly.

Licenses

Provided you forward us the proper information well in advance of your reservation (2-3 weeks) we will have your licences prepared for you upon your arrival. We require Name, Address, EMAIL ADDRESS, Date of Birth, Height, Weight, Hair & Eye colour and THE NUMBER OF YOUR CURRENT STATE OR PROVINCIAL HUNTING LICENCE, THE ISSUER OF THAT LICENCE AS WELL AS THE YEAR OF ISSUE.

According to the Ministry of Natural Resources’ Regulations we must actually SEE this licence upon your arrival, before we can issue the Ontario Non-Resident Small Game Licence. A photocopy or fax is NOT sufficient, so please have your state or provincial hunting licence with you. Please note that all Non-resident hunters must be at least 16 years of age in order to purchase a licence and hunt in Canada. The licence issuing was altered slightly in 2009 and if you didn't apply for a Non-Resident Outdoors card in 2009 you will need to do so in 2010. The Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) is working on a project to improve its fishing and hunting licensing system. Once these improvements are completed, non-resident hunters will be able to purchase Ontario hunting licences from home, using the Internet or the automated 1-800 phone system. As part of this project, MNR will also be developing an automated licensing system for its 1,800 licence issuers to improve service to all anglers and hunters. The automated system will require all anglers and hunters to have a unique identification number. For this reason, MNR has extended the requirement to have an Outdoors Card to non-resident anglers and hunters, effective January 1, 2009. The Outdoors Card is required to purchase an Ontario fishing or hunting licence (with the exception of a one-day fishing licence).

In 2010, non-resident anglers and hunters will be able to purchase their initial Outdoors Card by filling out an application. The paper application will serve as a temporary Outdoors Card until the permanent plastic card is received in the mail. The new Hunting/Fishing Outdoors Card will also serve as proof of hunting accreditation, so non-resident hunters will only have to present proof of hunting accreditation initially to obtain the card. In subsequent years they will need only the Outdoors Card to prove their eligibility to purchase licences. For more information you may call the Outdoors Card Centre (8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Eastern Time, Monday to Friday) toll free from anywhere in North America at: 1-800-387-7011 The Ministry of Natural Resources and Walpole Island licence rates for the 2010 season are as follows: (for rates please visit us closer to September)
