2011 Duck Hunting PackagesOnce again the 2011 waterfowl season is fast approaching and it is time to think about your upcoming hunting trip to the Oaks Inn Hotel, Dining & Event Center. As always the Oaks Inn will strive to make this year’s trip the best ever! Opening Day this year has has been determined by the Ministry of Natural Resources - OPENING DAY will be Saturday, September 24th, 2011. When travelling from the United States through Michigan your best bet is to take the Bluewater Ferry (accommodates your vehicle). The ferry and border are located in Marine City, MI cost for the ferry is about $6.00 U.S. or CDN. You may purchase your Ministry of Natural Resources Duck Hunting Licenses on the Bluewater Ferry - the exact ferry boat is called the "Daldean". The ferry will cross over and dock in the town of Sombra which is located only about 10 minutes north of Wallaceburg. Duck Stamps as always can be purchased here in Wallaceburg at Taylor's Convenience store on Dufferin Avenue on your way in from Sombra. Please note the Non-Resident Firearm Declaration containing all necessary information has changed. It is now www.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/cfp. As of June 1, 2009, all visitors to Canada by air, land, or sea require a passport or equivalent travel document. For more information regarding this new legislation please visit the website www.cbsa.gc.ca. As duck hunting season is a very busy time for us here at the Oaks Inn, you may prefer to book your accommodation earlier in the year. In doing this we are hoping to provide you, the customer with the most friendly and efficient service possible. You may notice on our website that we now offer online bookings – we do ask however that you still call 1-888-627-1433 and choose #1 for "Hotel Reservations" as certain information must be acquired regarding your unique reservation requirements that cannot be done thru the online system. Your Hunting Dogs are always welcome here at the Oaks Inn however, please keep in mind our rooms accomodate not only duck hunters but other guests, ie corporate business travellers, families, etc. Please note the Provincial Bi-Law states that when walking your dog you "scoop the poop", housekeeping can provide you with baggies for this purpose if you do not have your own. Listed below are the sharers rates for the 2011 Duck Hunting Season.
LicensesAs of September 24th, 2011 you can purchase your Ministry of Natural Resources Hunting/Angling Licenses at the following location: When Crossing over on the Bluewater ferry at Marine City, MI on the Daldean Ferry or at BASS HAVEN FISHING & HUNTING OUTFITTERS hours of operation are 6:00am to 8:00pm - 7 days a week and located 7-10 minutes away from the Oaks Inn at Mitchell's Bay - www.basshavencanada.com, we will be happy to supply all hotel guests with an information package with exact directions/maps to this location for your ease and convenience. Non-resident hunters must be at least 16 years of age in order to purchase a licence and hunt in Canada. The licence issuing was altered slightly in 2009 and if you didn't apply for a Non-Resident Outdoors card in 2009 you will need to do so in 2011. For this reason, MNR has extended the requirement to have an Outdoors Card to non-resident anglers and hunters, effective January 1, 2009. The Outdoors Card is required to purchase an Ontario fishing or hunting licence (with the exception of a one-day fishing licence). For more information you may call the Outdoors Card Centre (8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Eastern Time, Monday to Friday) toll free from anywhere in North America at: 1-800-387-7011.
